We are excited to announce that we will be launching new Irish Festival Dance classes in Glasgow.
“Festival dance” is a specialised form of Irish Dancing, which can be traced back to the 1950s, when celebrated dance teacher and choreographer, Patricia Mulholland, broke away from the Irish feis movement to offer Irish dance to performers on both sides of the community.
Teacher Hannah Brown began Irish Dancing aged 5 with the O’Connor School of Dance (Trim the Velvet) in Belfast and has played a central role to her life ever since. Hannah is also an experienced Celtic fiddle player and her natural flair for Irish music coupled with her passion for dancing has enabled Hannah to excel on a competitive level. Hannah is former Northern Ireland Champion, runner up Ulster Champion and has won overall awards at Festivals throughout the country in a competitive dancing career spanning more than 15 years. Since the age of 13 Hannah has been selected to dance at Festivals around Europe. She has represented Ireland at various Festivals throughout France and Poland every summer, most recently at Vistula Folk Festival where she shared the stage with dancers from Tahiti, Indonesia and Ukraine to name a few.
