The Royal Academy of Dance:
The RAD’s examinations are part of an internationally acknowledged system of rigorous assessments, drawing on the research and academic practices of twenty awarding organisations. These organisations promote progressive mastery in music, dance, drama and musical theatre.
The RAD is recognised to award qualifications on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF), by SQA Accreditation, a part of the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing:
The ISTD is one of the world’s leading dance examination boards with the widest range of dance genres available. Since 1904 they have provided training for dance teachers and examiners, enabling teachers to enter their students for examinations, develop new techniques and spread the joy of dance. As a registered educational charity and membership association, the ISTD’s mission is to educate the public in the art of dancing in all its forms, to promote knowledge of dance, to provide up-to-date techniques for their members, and to maintain and improve teaching standards. They support their members through updated teaching syllabi and techniques, plus a wide variety of courses, summer schools and congresses.
National Association of Teachers of Dancing:
The NATD aims to promote the enjoyment and knowledge of a variety of dance genres through their teachers’ passion and commitment to the art form. It offers an extensive range of dance forms with a comprehensive range of carefully developed graded syllabi for the amateur and professional. The aim of all their examinations is to encourage a positive approach to achievement and strive for the development of each individual to their maximum potential. Qualifications recognised by Ofqual and validated by The Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET).
